Issues running CommitCRM server on SBS2008?

Anyone else running the CommitCRM server on SBS2008 and accessing it via clients on normal LAN workstations?

I am still having issues where randomly the connection to the database seems to go screwy, causing random CommitCRM error messages and the program whites out and needs to be killed via its process. I've had some data corruption once from this issue too where data from one resolution field ended up in a few random accounts. Basically if I leave CommitCRM open and unused for more than 30 minutes you cna just about guarentee the database connection will be screwed and you will have to kill and re-openCommitCRM.

I thought it was an issue with my vista workstation but I'm now running Windows 7 and the same thing happens. then i thought it might be my network card so I upgraded my entire PC and its still happening. so then I replaced both 10/100 switches on the LAN with Cisco gigabit switches and the issue still remains. Happens on this Windows 7 PC and my Vista laptop. So i'm pretty sure its an issue with the server. I'd run the DB on my workstation to test but that would mean i'd have to run the web interface off my work PC which i realy don't want to do. but if nobody else is seeing this behaviour on SBS2008 i think i'll have to try it.

    cheers

Re: Issues running RangerMSP server on SBS2008?

    Hi Natrat,

    Thanks for posting this.
Network interruptions in MS Windows 7 are usually caused by power saving settings that put the NIC to sleep when the computer is idle. We suggest making sure that the computer is set to always be on, and make sure that the Network interface you're using on the server is set to not allow the system to shut it off.

Let us know if this helps.

We have the same setup here, SBS2008 and Win7 workstations. We see the same pattern of lockups and general screwiness.

We started out with that setup and had issues, so we moved CommitCRM to a Windows 2008 x64 server and the problems have all gone away.

Thats odd, as SBS2008 is effectively Server 2008 x64 with some extra integrated bits. I'd rather avoid running another server just for CommitCRM with 2 users but maybe thats worth trying. It's been driving me mad for a year.

Well, we also integrated Blackberry Enterprise Server on the same server, so its not a total waste, but it all works great.

Yeah, I have the same setup and I have lock ups about every other day or so - fairly random. I've just been dealing with it, but if there's a fix, it would be cool!

However, I don't have the white screen stuff... I just basically start getting errors about random things... It still half functions, but button text doesn't appear or information doesn't display where it should... I can usually close it properly though.

                    Hi Guys,

                    Thanks for posting this.

SBS2008 should work fine with RangerMSP, and I understand it does, except for after long idle times...
What you are describing is usually related to power saving setting that causes the connection from the client PC to the Server to disconnect. However, I understand that you checked this already :-(.

I assume that SBS2008 is shipped with some default settings or additional modules that causes disconnects from a shared drive/folder after long idle time. I searched Google for such issues (click here to see my test search) and found lots of similar issues. We welcome any additional feedback.

                    Hope this helps.

                    Regards,

Re: Issues running CommitCRM server on SBS2008?

For what its worth I never managed to resolve this until now despite trying all the recommended fixes (short of running it on a different server) and having no issue with any other apps.

The fix was to run the SQL version ofCommitCRM. I've had the client open and idle for 24 hours now without it crapping itself. Well worth the $250 for that fix alone.
