Problem With QuickBooks Sync and Items

We've realized a major problem with CommitCRM and the QB Item sync. We change Item names all the time in QB [SKU change for similar/same item, etc.] but CommitCRM does not update the "Item Code" only the "Item Name" when the changes items are synced. The issue is that when techs are entering charges they cannot find the item easily by the new name as "Item Code" is the default lookup when entering new charges. This even includes labor items that have been update/re-named in QB for various reasons.

We need a fix for this ASAP as we have many SKU's which have been updated in the last week and techs are having to perform a search to find them.

Re: Problem With QuickBooks Sync and Items

exbabylon, RangerMSP Items are synced and linked to QuickBooks Item regardless of any Code in RangerMSP or QuickBooks. The link is established behind the scenes using the internal IDs.
You can always update only the Item name in RangerMSP and have technicians use select the correct item in RangerMSP when charging for parts or labor. Then, it'll sync to QuickBooks using the parallel Item in QuickBooks, keep its name more generic in QuickBooks and have the dynamic info modified only in RangerMSP (which will then be passed into the Invoice as part of the Invoice Line description)..

    Hope this helps.

Re: Problem With QuickBooks Sync and Items

I guess I wasn't clear. The issue is that the CommitCRM QB Item Sync tool does not update item codes properly. Updating the information in CommitCRM and leaving "generic" items in QB IS NOT AN OPTION, all of our purchasing, inventory management and half of all our invoicing is done directly from QB. When we make a change in QB we need it to replicate over to CommitCRM correctly. This works for everything else but the Item Code, which happens to be the most important field for Charge entry inCommitCRM.

Re: Problem With QuickBooks Sync and Items

When syncing the Items again from QuickBooks into RangerMSP all information will be updated based on the Item details in QuickBooks except for the Code. The Code is a unique value of the Item in RangerMSP and once used in Charges cannot be updated. This is by design and it is related to many different aspects (the code kept in several places). Unfortunately, I do not foresee a change in the way it currently works.

        Thanks,
