Hi Rangers,
At RangerMSP, we've always strived to provide you with the best possible tools and experiences for running your IT services business (MSP), and to be transparent. That's why we're posting here to share some exciting updates about our future direction.
When we first released RangerMSP, we decided it would be an on-premise solution, which we felt at the time was the most flexible and robust solution for our customers of IT service providers. This decision has proved to be very beneficial, faithfully serving us and our customers since 2004, and will continue to do so.
However, as the world continues its shift towards cloud-based solutions, we recognize the need to adapt in order to better serve our customers and provide increased options for our users.
As many of you have noticed, we haven't released a new version of our on-premise software in a while. We understand that this might have sparked some curiosity and concerns, and we appreciate your patience. We can now share that we've actually been busy behind the scenes working on a new and modern cloud product that will eventually offer an alternative to RangerMSP, marking the next evolution in our offerings.
We assure you that our commitment to providing top-notch solutions remains unwavering, and while the new cloud product isn't currently directly comparable to RangerMSP and does not yet offer the same extensive functionality, it is expected to grow fast in that direction. We are incorporating over 20 years of customer feedback (thank you!) into its design and implementation.
We want to assure you that our commitment to supporting the on-premise edition of RangerMSP remains steadfast. It will continue to receive our dedicated attention and support.
In the coming months, you can expect more updates and details about the cloud-based solution.
For any immediate questions you may have, please find some answers below.
Thank you for being an essential part of the RangerMSP community.
We are genuinely excited about the future and look forward to continuing this journey together with you!

Questions and Answers
Will I be charged more for the new cloud edition?
No, anyone under a current active RangerMSP plan will be able to use the cloud edition at no extra cost.
Will you keep supporting the on-premise edition of RangerMSP?
Absolutely. You can expect to continue experiencing the same level of professional and prompt support responses from our team.
Will you keep releasing new versions for the on-premise edition of RangerMSP?
While our current priorities and efforts are focused on building and offering a modern cloud option, which you will be able to enjoy at no additional cost, we do plan to resume releasing new versions for the on-premise edition once the cloud edition is established as a viable alternative for your consideration.
Is the on-premise edition discontinued (sunset)?
No, it's not. We want to assure you that the on-premise edition is not being discontinued. This announcement is simply about adding a new cloud option to provide you with more choices. We understand the importance of maintaining the on-premise edition for those who rely on it, and it will continue to be supported alongside the new cloud option
Why did you choose to offer a cloud-based solution as well?
The technology landscape is continually evolving, a trend that has been ongoing since our inception in 2004. Many existing RangerMSP users have expressed interest in having a cloud option available. We believe that this cloud approach will open up numerous possibilities for our users and provide access to integrations and features that are more readily available in the cloud for those who require them.
What is your release philosophy behind this new cloud product?
Our approach to implementing such a large-scale product while preserving the quality RangerMSP is known for and also making it stable is somewhat unique. We wanted to avoid releasing a 'huge' product all at once, something that is prone to endless bugs and plenty of rough edges.
Therefore, the cloud edition, with its current functionality, has been quietly launched and deployed to businesses that have found its existing feature set compelling. These are typically businesses that do not require a complete holistic solution, such as what a PSA normally provides. They are actively using it in production, and the application has already achieved high stability. Feedback thus far has been excellent.
As we approach the next milestone, which involves the addition of billing-related features, we anticipate that it will become even more compelling for some of you. For others who require additional functionality, many new options will quickly follow.
What is the current state of the cloud edition?
As of today, its core feature set, at production level, includes a robust email shared inbox system centered around conversations and team collaboration. Think of it as Tickets + Email Connector + Customer portal + Many additional new collaboration options. A billing module—think items, employee rates, charges, contracts, QuickBooks integration, and more—is already a work in progress and will be added soon. Plenty of additional features will follow.
Can I start using the cloud edition now?
Yes, if you believe that the current feature set described above already meets your requirements, please contact us to discuss.
Stay tuned for more updates!
