How can we prevent staff from entering assets into the database? We are still running into the problem with co-workers duplicating assets already under a customer and already in the system.

The Employee privileges feature offers just this. Look for the 'Assets - Manage' privilege item. Using it you can control who can add or edit Assets.

In order to change the Employee permissions, visit the File menu > User and Privileges > Privileges, select the Privileges Group of the relevant users and remove Edit and Delete permissions for 'Assets - Manage' item. The change will take on next login.
