    Setting multiple assets to inactive

Is it possible to set multiple assets to inactive at once.
Is this something that can be done in a batch type mode.

We also would like to add locations to multiple assets and would like to know if this is possible to do at once as well.

We are currently running V 21.0.0.2.

    Thank you,
    Kendra L. Eiermann

Re: Setting multiple assets to inactive

    Thank you for posting this.

Although there is no option to update multiple assets at once, you can use export and import Assets tools as a workaround that will save you time - The import will update the relevant Assets in batch.

In case all Assets have a value in their Code data field (this is a unique key), the following should work for you:

    1. First, from the Assets window from the pop up menu select Table Options > Export Table Data and export Assets to Excel.

Verify that ALL Assets are listed and displayed.

    2. Edit Assets location and set the status in Excel to 'Not Active'.

    3. Take a backup (!!!) of RangerMSP

    AFTER taking a backup:

    4. Use the Assets Import tool to import the Assets list. When importing you should map ONLY the Asset Code, Status and Location fields (see the screenshot).
As a result the status for these Assets will be changed to 'Not Active' and the location will be updated.

    Hope this helps.

Thank you for this information. We currently do not have any information in the Asset Code field so will this still work for us.

You can use the same method with Record ID field, instead of Asset Code. Record ID is an unique internal identifier for each Asset record.

In order to export the Assets list with Record ID field, you should add the column using the Table Options menu > Add/Remove Column:

When importing the Assets back, you should map the fields as follows:
