setting up the outgoing mail server settings, if I enabvle the authentication, I get the error:

> AUTH CRAM-MD5
< 504 5.7.4 Unrecognized authentication type.
> AUTH LOGIN
RequestDone Rq=11 Error=504 5.7.4 Unrecognized authentication type.
Error, Application Stopped
RequestDone Rq=11 Error=10004

I can get email test to work without using authentication....

Hi ray,

It's hard to tell what may be preventing from the authenticated connection from working. This may be related to security settings on your mail server, which may be using a non-standard communication protocol. We may be able to help more if you send us your log files (from the Help > Technical Support menu).

On a side note, when working with a local mail server, authentication is usually not required, as the service communicates with the mail server locally.
