I use a VB script to create XML files which contain the info I want to document on hardware and software I support, is there any provision for updating the Asset (or adding new) from XML?

Thank you for your question.
Importing assets is supported for Excel and Text (CSV) files. Importing from XML is not possible.
What you may consider is using the 'API by Email', which supports XML format. This can be done via the Email Connector, which accepts XML formatted emails which contain database transaction and performs the transaction in the database. Note that this requires sending the transactions via email, and it also requires using a RangerMSP-proprietary XML format. You can read more about this option here.
