Monthly Hours Summary by Employee --

in this report, we get a daily average however, the number of days is calculated only if a charge is entered for a day... how do we conpensate for days where zero hours are billed? We need a way to quickly/easily tell CommitCRM when an employee was working (this can't be based on whether or not there are charges in the day).

    thanks!

    Hi Ray,

Only days that include time based entries are taken into account.

Employees should probably log the time regardless of the billing related needs. Everything done by an employee should probably be logged as a time Charge record. In case you do not want to Charge your customer for the time set it to Not Billable.
In case you need to log zero hour amount and bill it (even with zero) - consider logging the time and providing a discount on the Charge that will zero the Charge amount, yet the time should still be logged.

Except for logging Charge records for both billing purposes and office management purposes (i.e. log time against your business account for internal tasks like training, research, etc.) I cannot think of anything else that can be used and will affect Charge based reports like the Monthly Hours Summary by Employee you mentioned.

    Hope this helps.

The way we use commit, EVERYTHING eventually get's marked billable then billed, this way we never miss anything that should actually be billed to a client. We don't want to use CommitCRM to track all time (for various reasons). Given that we eventually mark everything as billable, if we tracked everything then the calculation would be wrong.
