    Searching Items by Keyword

We recently tied our point of sale software (Microsoft Dynamics Retail Management System) to CommitCRM. The goal with this project is to allow charges to be entered into a ticket, then using an extension for RMS, import accounts and charges from tickets for billing.

Part of the project involves synchronizing inventory from RMS to CommitCRM, and this part is done and functional. The problem we found in testing the system is that items in CommitCRM appear to not be searchable by keyword like accounts are, so when a string is entered in the search field, it will only return results that match the beginning of the string.

In our situation, this is unfortunate because many of our items have prefixes or other non-identifying information at the start of the item code. We would enjoy the ability to search items by keyword, much like accounts.

Is this within the realm of feasibility? Is it something we might see in a future release of CommitCRM?

    Re: Searching Items by Keyword

Thank you for asking. This sounds like a really interested solution on which we would love to hear future updates on.

Items can already be search in RangerMSP by with an SQL-"like" more approach, though this requires a more more clicks. In short, you open a filter and select to search by the Code field using the "Includes" condition. This will search for Items within the code, unlike from its beginning.
Another option would be to use the table-search option, that is MUCH more handy in RangerMSP 10 - visit the magnifying glass on the bottom-right of each table/grid of records and text-search it (you can even limit the columns to search in, should it be required).

Finally, our next release will support such searches right in the Items search field on the toolbar ;-)

Thanks for the tip, that seems to work.
