Inconsistent Tab Order

We are wondering why the tabs change their order. For example, in accounts, our tabs are in 2 rows, ordered (left to right) Assets, Opportunities, Charges, Docs. We will notice that this order will change for example Docs, opportunities, charges, Assets.

Can you give me some ideas as to why this happens?

Order in multi-line tabs is kept but in some cases isn't guaranteed and this is part of why out-of-the-box this isn't the default view. If you refer about different order in different windows then you have control over it using the tab management window that lets you control tab order so you can have these aligned.
