Is it possible to use a Barcode Scanner to book in items?

Yes, it is. You can even print Barcode labels directly for RangerMSP, attach them to equipment/Assets and then scan it to capture the code and immediately see the Asset details.

And, you can apply the same principles to Tickets and anything else. For example, you can have a Barcode printed for the Ticket # and then scan it when searching for Tickets instead of manually typing the Ticket number, etc.
