I go to the KB, i type auv in the free text field, it finds nothing.

I type auvik and it finds the article.

Howcome the term auvik finds something but auv doesnt?

Please try searching with wildcard, e.g. search for auv* and see whether this helps.

That does work.

We have to do a wildcard because auv isn't a word?

Great that it works!
It isn't about it not being a real word but rather of it not being a full technical-word (i.e. a sequence of characters until a stop character such as a space) in the text. So, it is indexed, just requires a wildcard symbol when searching using parts of the word that got indexed.
