Default ticket Template

is it possible to make a custom ticket template and have it become the default when you click on new ticket without having to select in drop box?

That's an interesting idea. The new Ticket Templates in version 27 lets you create new tickets based on predefined templates, though you cannot default to one for any new ticket that you created but rather pick the template from the list. We'll take a note about this request. Thanks for asking.
