Hello,
We're happy to announce additional enhancements to RangerMSP 4.4
Last week RangerMSP 4.4 was released.
This release included the ability to automatically convert alerts from MSP systems into service tickets inRangerMSP. This is implemented as part of the RangerMSP Email Connector module.
During the week we've received several requests asking us to extend this option and make it easier to integrate RangerMSP with additional MSP tools.
We are happy to release an update to version 4.4 that addresses these requests and enhances the original MSP integration options introduced with the initial release of RangerMSP 4.4 last week.
This enhancement allows you to 'teach' the system how to detect the Account by the 'MSP system ID', rather than just by the Account name.
For each Account in RangerMSP, you can now store an 'MSP system ID' (or IDs). You can then define an Account Detection Rule that will tell RangerMSP Email Connector to detect the Account in RangerMSP based on the ID in the MSP system (rather than by the account name)
These new features should let you integrate RangerMSP with any MSP system that sends, or can be configured to send, their accounts IDs as part of the email alert subject line (many systems do offer that option).
Note
Systems installed or upgraded after August 1, 2008 should already include these enhancements. If you installed the system or upgraded it after this date you can skip the upgrade step, and go directly to the Usage section below.
If you're not sure when you installed/upgraded RangerMSP you can simply download the small update program (see below). The update process is short and does nothing if you already have these features installed.
Upgrade
Note: You should have RangerMSP version 4.4 already installed
1. Stop RangerMSPServer service
2. Click here (link removed) to download a small update program (~2.55 MB)
3. Run the update program
Usage
1. Run RangerMSP client and update the relevant Accounts records to store their MSP system IDs. You can now use any of the following Account' fields to store this info: Account#, ID, Field1, Field2 and Field3 (all fields can be found on the left side area of the Account' Details tab)
2. Run ServerConfig (found in folder <server>\RangerMSP\Server\ )
3. Go to 'Email Connector' tab > scroll down to 'Email Processing Settings' > 'Automated Emails' > 'Automated Emails Settings'
4. Define an Account Detection Rule that will tell the system to search for the RangerMSP Account based on the MSP ID found in the email alert subject
5. Restart RangerMSPServer service
You can read all about Automated Emails Settings and how to define detection rules here (recommended!).
Enjoy!
